Gabrielle Union is fierce! November 25, 2008

After I saw this picture I knew I had to do a post all about Gabrielle Union!  That picture of her is gorgeous!  Gabrielle attended the premiere of her new movie entitled, “Cadillac Records” in Los Angeles last night.

Do you want to know why I think Gabrielle is fierce?  Not only is she an awesome actress but she is also a humanitarian.  With her help, the Susan G. Komenfoundation expanded their mission to Africa.  Late last month she traveled to Ghana, one of several African countries the charity is focusing on.

“I’m hoping to dispel some very prevalent myths about what causes breast cancer and to break down some barriers for Ghanaian women,” said Union. “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem—so do breast self-exams and go see a doctor. Early diagnosis and treatment will literally save your life.

Go girl!

Olivia Wilde does Women’s Health Magazine October 24, 2008

“House” star Olivia Wilde is the November 2008 covergirl for Women’s Health Magazine.  She talks about playing a bisexual M.D. with a terminal illness on Fox’s hit tv show “House.”  She says, “Not only am I dying, but I’m gay.  Now that’s a juicy role!”

Wilde just finished filming a goofy period comedy called, “The Year One” in Shreveport, Louisiana with Jack Black, Michael Cera and David Cross.    She says, “It was freaking cold at times, and there were a lot of unpleasant conditions, but I was surrounded by the funniest human beings I have ever met.  There was zero drama.”

Wilde became huge after she kissed Misha Barton during Season 2 of the O.C.  According to Women’s Health mag, the video of her steamy kisses with Misha have received over 100,000 hits on youtube!  “When I kiss a girl for a part, people think it’s sexy.  But if two guys kiss, suddenly there’s a backlash.  It’s a double standard.  Honestly, I think we’re all bisexual is some way.”  Wilde said.

When asked, who is on the top of her list for a rendevous?  “Angelina Jolie, hands down!”

Christina Applegatee has breast cancer August 2, 2008

The 36 year old “Samantha Who” star has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her rep has confirmed the news but nothing further has been said.

I hope they found this early enough and she will be ok. Our prayer are with you.

Dirty Dancing 2? July 30, 2008

I have seen so many interviews that Patrick Swayze has done with Jennifer Grey and they have both always said that they would be open to it if the same people from the first film were involved.  So I am not sure if this is a rumor or if this could happen.  Dirty Dancing 2?

Do we really need a sequel to Dirty Dancing?  I could honestly say that growing up that was one of my favorite movies and enjoyed watching it until the VHS tape broke!  But I don’t think we need to re-visit with Baby and Johnny!  What would they do?  Baby and Johnnie go to a nursing home?  It was re-made already in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights with Patrick playing a cameo as a dance instructor!

In good Patrick Swayze news, the 55 year old’s health is improving greatly since being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in late January 2008.  It is believed that he got pancreatic cancer from smoking up to 3 packs a day which Wiki claims he is still doing even after undergoing chemotherapy.  I hope this isn’t true!

Last week, Swayze spoke of his recovery, saying: “I’m doing really well. I feel really good. I’ve put on 20lbs. I should be dead right now. Look at me – I’m a miracle.”

Kim Kardashian wants you to feel on your boobs! July 26, 2008

Don’t be perverts its for a good cause!  Kim Kardashian’s grandmother suffered from breast & colon cancer over 15 years ago and is now a survivor.  Kim K is using her fame to bring awareness and encourages all women to do breast exams regularly.

Don’t think this is only a warning for women, men can get breast cancer as well!  Many people do not realize that men have breast tissue and that they can develop breast cancer.  For more information on male breast cancer click here.

Sporting a really cute new haircut, Reese Witherspoon shows support by introducing Avon’s global fundraising product to raise awareness of breast cancer and domestic violence in Japan. A study shows only 12 per cent of Japanese women get regular screenings for breast cancer.

Jodie Sweetin started working as an actress making commercials for Oscar Mayer hot dogs at the ripe old age of 4. She went on to work on T.V. show’s until she got her break out role as Stephanie Tanner on “Full House” in 1987. This is the same show that put the Olson twins on the map.

After the show ended its run after 8 successful seasons, she found herself trying to become a “normal” student attending high school and later college. At the age of 20, she got married but all was not well with Jodie. She was experimenting with drugs, specifically methamphetamines which caused her subsequent divorce and health problems. It wasn’t until she had passed out one day that she decided to get treatment.

Jodie is now in recovery and has since remarried and has a daughter named, Zoie Laurel May Herpin. She now travels the U.S. talking to students about her addictions and helps them to realize why they are bad.

I think it is great when someone her age with her experience with drugs can speak to the young people out there because they will listen to someone like her. When adults speak to kids about drugs and alcohol they don’t really believe they understand them.

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey talk about Autism June 4, 2008

Today on Good Morning America Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey talked about Autism. McCarthy’s son was diagnosed with Autism early in life and has improved miraculously through a controversial diet that includes gluten-free, casein-free diet, vitamin supplementation, detox of metals, and anti-fungals for yeast overgrowth that plagued his intestines.

They are both working hard to educate parents about vaccinations and about Autism. She wrote a book entitled, “Louder Than Words: A Mother’s Journey in Healing Autism.”

They look so sweet together these two! It really is so important that he supports and believes in her cause and is standing by her to fight the fight. The way he speaks about her son is really special. I think this is one Hollywood couple that has a real shot!
