I want to congratulate Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clemente, better known as “Flight of the Conchords” for their Grammy nomination!
This is a 2nd nomination for the folk parody duo, they one in 2007 for their cd, “The Distant Future.”
They are up for the Grammy in the “Best Comedy Album.” They have some touch competition against George Carlin, Lewis Black, Kathy Griffin, and Harry Shearer.
The Grammy’s will be televised on February 8th. Also the guys return to HBO this January!

Jemaine Clement and his wife Miranda Manasiadis welcomed a baby boy last month in New York! I didn’t even know she was pregnant!
When I first heard the name I thought it was a joke. But after Zuma I thought I had heard the worst! You guys decide. Their baby boy is named Sophocles Iraia Manasiadis Clement.
Sophocles was the name of his wife’s Greek grandfather and Iraia is believed to be the name of one of Jemaine’s grandparents. Baby Sophocles is said to have his daddy’s lips!

BAFTA held a pre-Emmy tea party yesterday at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City, California yesterday. Many of our favorite television and movie stars came out for this event.

I just read that our favorite comedic duo, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement will only make one more season of their hit HBO show, Flight of the Conchords. The guys confess they were struggling with “a difficult second series” during an interview for Q.
“We’ve got a lot of half-songs,” said Clement. “We’ve got an album’s worth of beginnings of songs.”
McKenzie revealed this series, made up of 10 new episodes, would likely be the last. “The second series seems to me like it would be a good end to the show. I feel like another 10… that will be enough.”
Ricky Gervais did the same thing with “The Office” and “Extra’s” leaving the fans wanting more.
The guys are also pursuing other avenues, including auditioning for movies.
McKenzie told Q he had applied for a part in a film adaptation of the Justice League of America.
Flight of the Conchords, has brought the guys international acclaim, along with winning a Grammy award for best comedy album.

Comedian Sarah Silverman hosted the first ever “Music for Mercy Corps,” a fundraising event to benefit the people of Darfur on Saturday. The event was held at “The Tuscan VIlla” in New York and included a live performance by “The English Beat” and a live auction of items donated by Coldplay, Yoko Ono, Bon Jovi, B.B. King, Tom Petty and Elvis Costello.
Attendees included, Sarah Silverman, Cary Elwes, Oded Fehr (Deuce Bigalow Flix & Mummy 1/2), Todd Barry (Flight of the Conchords) and CNN’s Alina Cho.
The last single Conchord, Jemaine Clement is single no longer! Jemaine wed his long-time girlfriend, Wellington actress and theatre director Miranda Manasiadis, in a Los Angeles registry office. A small group of friends, including Flight of the Conchords co-star Bret McKenzie, was there.
Congrats to the happy couple!
