Natalie Portman wins Humanity Award August 31, 2008
Actress Natalie Portman is in Venice tonight enjoying a Humanitarian Award given to her for her involvement with important social and environmental programmes. Portman’s prize is $50,000 US dollars and a trophy. The cash she receives is being donated to the programme, organizers said.
Portman makes her directorial debut in a short film called Eve, being screened at the festival this week.

German actress Diane Kruger and her boyfriend Joshua Jackson attended the Jaeger Dinner at the Fondacion Cini during the 65th Venice Film Festival this evening.
Kruger is set to team up again with Brad Pitt for the new Quentin Tarantino flick entitled, “Inglorious Bastards.”
“I just found out I’m going to do [Quentin] Tarantino’s next film with Brad Pitt,” Kruger told People at the Valentino party in Venice Thursday. “I’m very excited. Quentin just called. I play a German movie star but I don’t want to give too much away.”

Mirren said she used to take “a bit of cocaine. I loved coke. I never did a lot, just a little bit at parties.
“But what ended it for me was when they caught Klaus Barbie, the Butcher of Lyon, in the early eighties.
“He was hiding in South America and living off the proceeds of being a cocaine baron.
“And I read that in the paper, and all the cards fell into place and I saw how my little sniff of cocaine at a party had an absolute direct route to this fucking horrible man in South America.
“And from that day I never touched cocaine again. Until that moment I had never grasped the full horrifying structure of what brings coke to our parties in Britain.”

Christina Aguilera Inspire will be a tuberose-focused white floral; according to a P&G spokesperson, Aguilera “loves tuberose fragrances but they tend to be a bit heavy so we kept working on it to make it more young”. Additional notes include mango, citrus, freesia, rose, gardenia, orange blossom, sandalwood and musks.

Hellboy’s Selma Blair is the September 2008 covergirl for Elle Magazine Korean Edition. Selma confesses how it was to work with Guillermo Del Toro on the two Hellboy movies.
She explained: “Guillermo’s sets are always incredible. On both ‘Hellboy’s I was blown away when I walked on set. The costumes are so detailed and impressive as well.
“It is so great to be an actor on his movies because the surroundings really help you believe you are in this fantastic world. You’re basically living inside the brain of this brilliant director.”
Selma says she was taught by her sister how to use firearms for the movie.
“I know how to shoot a gun because my sister was a police officer so she taught me how to use one safely, but it is so different when you’re using them in a movie. You have to pretend to be shooting one so you have to mimic the kickback after you fire it. I was so bad at it!”

Jessica Alba is not a very smiley person. I don’t think I can recall seeing many pictures of her with a smile on her face. But I am happy to see since giving birth to baby Honor Marie with her husband Cash Warren, she has looked a lot happier.
She got back to her baby weight in no time! She is a “workout” person though so it doesn’t surprise me. I like her hat in these too!

Soprano’s star James Gandolfini married the gorgeous former model Deborah Lin in her hometown of Honolulu Hawaii yesterday.
The intimate, 20-minute ceremony was held at the island’s Central Union Church. A harpist played the “Hawaiian Wedding Song” as the bride walked down the aisle in a white, Italian lace gown
The cutest part is that Gandolfini’s 8-year-old son Michael was the “Best Man.”
