Yeah I watched this…. What can I say, I’m a comedian and this show is a VALUABLE resource on occasion! While you may agree with her it’s not the point really.
Basically it’s like Whoopie said black people have taken over the word as a form of empowerment…. But I also think that it’s also kind of also USED by the black community as a way to throw something back in people’s faces…. It’s over played and it should be something that is not really used anymore by ANYONE unless it’s in a history lecture….
But what do I know I’m just a dumb white guy who’s family never owned ANYTHING, not even land!!!
I must say I agree with Elizabeth. I like Whoopi & I like Sherri but they aren’t doing themselves or our society any favors when they repeat that word. Like it or not, rappers use this word in alot of their music and so young people OF ALL RACES get the impressions that its ok to say it and do! What this does is desensitizes listeners, just like when some girls call each other the “B” word and think its okay. I say No! Its not okay! If we want our society to move forward then we have to quit using these foul words with each other and move on! The “N” word has never been a term of endearment as the much as “B” word has never been a term of endearment. Just my opinion.
Yeah I agree with you on all points. I normally don’t side with Elizabeth because quite frankly I don’t agree with most of the stuff she says. But I feel that in order of us as a society to become equals we need to get rid of the negativity.
That word no matter who says it carries the negativity of its origins.
I believe that Elizabeth was right. The N word should not be used by anyone. The african-american community needs to understand that they have no credibility with most whites when they say this word is hurtful because they use it so much.
Also conservatives are aloud to have their opinions just like the liberals are. Elizabeth should not be bashed for her opinions.
Elizabeth’s ideas on it are correct, imho.
Whoopie, like the other black woman on the show, who, btw, told BW that the word ‘better not come out of your mouth’ are simply stuck on stupid. In Whoopie’s words, she gains power from her perpetual victimization.
Is power to the stupid progress?
I love it when millionaires like Whoopi tell me how tough it is for black people in America. I’m sick of the whining.
What is this nonsense that one group of people can use a word and turn around and tell me I can’t?
And finally, how come racism is only talked about from the perspective of white racism. Anyone who thinks black racism doesn’t exist, is not living in the real world.

Why can’t white people get over the fact that their evil ancestors did very bad things that will never go away. We actually celebrate a holiday that thanks the Indians for giving us their land. In the 60’s the white man created laws that said our piss and sh!t had to be segregated, Our Piss and Sh!t wasn’t good enough to be mixed with the white mans. I would like to tell the whiteman the truth. our language is a different language than yours and what’s wrong with that. I can say a similar word that means something different to me and mine than you and yours. You do see black men telling white men what they call themselves. I can’t help that fact that white men did very evil things to my ancestors and I will never forget and the word NIGA reminds me of how far we have come. So please white man get over it. You can call each what ever you want. I don’t care, but don’t try and tell me what I can do or say. Your evil ancestors did what they did and it will never go away.

Armetra, I’m sorry you seem so ready to label every white person as having evil ancestors… personally my family came here from Germany in 1789, none of them ever owned any slaves or property for that matter until the 1950’s…. So I’m sorry but get over your self.
Your family can trace their ancestry back to Africa, I’m sorry you can’t possibly know the specific locale in Africa I am sure that it is a personal loss, but again that is not the entire white races fault either. But are you also willing to direct some of that rage back to the African Family members/tribesmen who sold your ancestors to the actual SLAVE TRADERS?
Your labeling all whites as evil or from evil is as just as ignorant as the moronic whites who used to think all blacks had lesser developed cranial capacity.
None of those arguments are true and none of them are relevant to the use of this particular word in language today, wrong is wrong and it should stop being used no matter what the purpose, unless you feel the need to use that word in the privacy of your own home.
