British Invasion
Last night L.A. hosted the inaugural British Comedy Awards which celebrated the best of 2007′s t.v. and theatrical comedies. Guests in attendance include one of my favorite singers Joss Stone and Cat Deeley.
A special honor was given to Scottish actor Billy Connolly for Lifetime Achievement Award for Comedy. Billy says he was only given a weeks notice of the award so he wonders who was their first choice who obviously turned them down! He used to be on an old show here called Head of the Class.
Actor Simon Pegg, who was nominated for Best British Comedy Film and Best British Comedy Performer, flew in especially for the event. This guy is so funny! Most American audiences were introduced to him via Run Fatboy Run which is not one of the best examples of his work. He will be in the Star Trek movie playing the role of Scotty.
The jetlagged star insisted American and British humor isn’t so different, saying: “There’s much made of the supposed difference between us, but we all find the same things funny I think.”
Ashley Jensen was also in attendance. She is currently on the show Ugly Betty but is better known I think for her role as the clueless Maggie on the show Extra’s. During some Q & A she hinted that writers Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant haven’t completely ruled out a return for the show.
Last year’s Christmas special, which featured Ricky’s character Andy rejecting his fame after appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, was believed to be the show’s final episode.
Ashley says if Ricky and Stephen do pen another episode, she’ll be on the first plane back to Britain.
“They’re onto various other projects already but I would love to do another one because it’s such a fun character to play, and it’s just such a beautifully written piece of work that I’m really fortunate to have been in and that I’m really proud to have been in,” said Jensen.
We hope to hear some good news about Extra’s soon!
P.S. If anyone saw the Christmas episode, I am still looking for that ringtone that was played during the scene at Carphone Warehouse!
Do you want to sing with Alicia Keys?
Alicia Keys is searching for a new back up singer and she is doing it thru her myspace page. So if you are between the ages of 21-30 and were not the girl who sang back up for Mariah Carey on Good Morning America, you will need to submit a 30 second or longer video of them singing.
I don’t know if that is a good idea. Do you know how many crazy people are going to be sending in videos? All the William Hungs of the world are going to send videos in just like they do for American Idol.

Do we need another reason to love SJP?
Sarah Jessica Parker is a total fashion icon. So what does she do with this fame? She starts a line of clothing called Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker. It promotes making celebrity fashion at prices that everyone can afford.
So many celebrities currently have clothing lines. Those that range from moderate to very expensive. But for the most part, they don’t even wear the clothing from their own line. This leads me to think that you don’t believe in your product, why should I? I think it was Lauren Conrad who recently showed up to promote her line and she was wearing another designers dress.
Woo! Sorry for that rant. SJP attended the premiere of the movie “Then she found me” which her husband Mathew Broderick is starring in. She wore a dress with a retail value of $9.00 to the event!

I remember when I was growing up all the most popular things the girls were wearing cost an arm and a leg. If you did not wear the latest you were made fun of. I like that she is promoting clothes that are affordable and well made. I personally own quite a few of the baby t’s from her line and they are so comfy. I know I couldn’t have paid more than $7.00 for them.
