I subscribe to all these magazines that show these ads for thew newest fashion for the season and quite frankly I rarely ever find anything in those ads that catch my attention. Besides those women not looking like me, they are these beautiful crane like creatures with light features and long legs. I am not jealous, I think they are fantastic to look at but when it comes time to decide what I’m going to buy when I shop, I just don’t relate to those women.
I’m hispanic with tan features and a short waist. Not to mention my vuluptuous top half and my wide hipped bottom half. Thank God for magazines like Latina and for the likes of actresses like Eva Mendez and Eva Longoria who give me a pallet that I can work with.
While I’m on this rant I should probably also mention how when I go to the mall most stores I encounter are catering to women in the age range of 18-25. My friend and I had this discussion over dinner the other day. Where do women that are older than 28 and less than 40 go to shop? Yes there is Anne Taylor, Express, and the like but is it really that limited? I like to dress in fun clothes for my age group and I just don’t think its out there.
Has this happened to anyone else?
LOL! Well at times I can relate. Yes I look at those models and think “Yeah ok! I cant fit into those jeans! My ass is twice their size!” LOL But unlike you I have to deal with the less voluptous top half of myself. LOL I have that Jennifer lopez type body but taller. I have to admit I love express..the only place where I have found jeans that flatter my bottom half! LOL But I have found this awesome store in these new shops in broward. I feel young as soon as I walk in there! I have bought clothes that I never thought would flatter me but…it has even encouraged me to chop my hair off! LOL So if you are looking for a cool, hip store head to Love Culture on Pines and I-75. I love them!!
I’m glad to see that its not only me that its happen to. I have tried to use Jennifer Lopez when I have gone to color my hair but it just never looks the same. Body wise……I’m more Eva Mendez only shorter.
